As part of LGBTQIA+ month, Year 6 have observed the final piece of work by the bi-sexual artist Frida Kahlo titled ‘Viva la Vida’. The watermelons have hard shells that protect the soft flesh inside which symbolises the artist herself, who had to develop a thick skin to weather a life marked with physical and emotional pain coupled with harsh criticism of her art.
The children thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with a seldom used medium, watercolour paint, to create their own version.
