On Friday 4th March lantern processions will leave Mayflower Hall, Neptune Street, Rotherhithe and St James’s church, off Jamaica Rd, Bermondsey at 5.30 pm.
Doors will open from 4.00 pm. Accompanied by music, the parades will walk through the localities before meeting in Southwark Park at the bandstand at 6.00 pm. The parades will join as one in a circuit around the north perimeter of Southwark Park.
There shall be free music and barn dancing at the bandstand provided by the Ceilidh Tree Band, a specially written poem for Illuminate about T R E E S, surprise guests ( if they are not occupied in serious things), a very special lantern made by The Shed, and pizza, biscuits by Boscoffee and cinnamon buns by the Finnish church.
RPS Primary has taken part in some Lantern building workshops organised by Illustrate Rotherhithe and will be at the procession on Friday so please do come along and watch us launch our lanterns.
