There will be lots of exciting learning and events to look forward to over the next few weeks starting with British Science week. The theme is Earth and Space. Children will be exploring rockets in workshops with Ruth from Sciencedipity. Then they get to have some scientific fun designing and making their own rockets. Look to the stars! Nursery and Reception are in for a fantastic time of bubble making!
Elephants:
Year 1-5 to have a live video session with the Golden Triangle Aisan Elephant Foundation, where the children will get up close with the elephants. GTAEF are a charitable organisation who have camps in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand, where there are currently 25 rescued elephants that used to be loggers or street tourist elephants. The camp is also fostering 3 more elephants whose owners couldn’t feed them due to COVID. The guide will talk to the children about the elephants and each session will be linked to the year group’s Science objectives within Living Things and Animals and their Habitats. How exciting!
Art Exhibition:
And if that’s not enough to get the children excited about returning to school across the federation children will take part in a project focusing on female scientists. Children will create portraits celebrating the accomplishments of these scientists and our finished work will form part of the “The Great Big Art Exhibition” which will involve displaying all of the portraits on the windows of our school. This is a national initiative and we encourage families to also take part. It is a great way for all of us to explore our creative side at home, from first-timers to professional artists. The project would like to see as many people taking part as possible. Display your art in your front garden, from a balcony or on your front door to join RPS in the Great Big Art Exhibition!
Wow! What an amazing few weeks the children have ahead of them. Red nose Day is just around the corner too, so get ready to be donning those red noses on the 19th March.
Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday!
