Our debate mate team visited the Emmanuel centre in Westminster to take part in a competition with 30 other schools across the borough. Students aged 6 to 16 will develop key 21st-century skills such as confidence, communication, and empathy. They will take part in a range of engaging and interactive activities, working alongside their peers from around the world and their university mentors. This debate-led methodology puts students at the centre of their learning and equips them with the critical-thinking and leadership skills required to tackle big topics such as Law, Philosophy, and Shakespeare.
Our team initially watched other teams debate on whether children should be allowed to choose their own Headteacher. Our team had the opportunity to ask questions during the debate.
The Debate Mate club will be starting next Wednesday on 9th November where our team will have the opportunity to get involved in some debating of their own so please check back for more information.
