We now have a new item in each classroom. It’s a compost bucket. These buckets will collect waste food from each class and this waste will be added to our compost heap in our gardening area to create our own compost to fertilise and nourish our soil.
What is compost?
Composting is an aerobic method of decomposing organic solid wastes, so that they can be used to recycle organic material. The process involves decomposing organic material into a humus-like material, known as compost, which is a good fertilizer for plants.
As you can see in the pictures below, some of our crop is already starting to bloom. In no time, we should start to see everything that we have planted start to sprout. We are all very much looking forward to harvesting and eating our crops!
