Year 3 began their Design and Technology unit by exploring pneumatic systems. Pupils learned that mechanisms are systems of parts working together to create motion, and that pneumatic systems can be incorporated into these mechanisms.
They also discovered that pneumatic systems are widely used in everyday objects, such as bus doors, bicycle pumps, pneumatic drills, and even some children’s toys. This hands-on introduction helped them understand how air pressure can be used to create movement in practical applications.
