Year 1 pupils took their learning to a delicious new level today as they explored a colourful variety of fruits before creating their very own smoothies.
With the help of parent volunteers, the children were buzzing with excitement as plates of fruits — including bananas, pears, lemons, pineapple, and limes — were passed around for tasting. Pupils were encouraged to use their senses to describe each fruit, thinking about texture, flavour, and smell.
There were plenty of surprised reactions as children discovered new favourites. After the tasting session, pupils selected their top fruits and worked together to design their own smoothie recipes. Equipped with cups, blenders, and lots of enthusiasm, Year 1 created colourful concoctions.
By the end of the session, children proudly sipped their personalised smoothie — a refreshing reward for an afternoon of learning, experimenting, and fun.
