We have some very keen scientists at RPS who are keen to do additional science activities during their lunch time. Their latest experiment is called “Flying Ring” and they are using balloons for this experiment.
The balloon picks up electrons from the towel and this becomes negatively charged. The ring does the same, which makes a force that makes the ring fly.
