Thankfully the rain didn’t put a dampener on the Summer Fair and there were still lots of fun activities for the children to get involved with.
We were very fortunate to have a special guest appearance from the recently appointed Southwark Mayor – Naima Ali. Naima is a parent of former pupils at RPS and did a lot of work with staff and families on raising awareness of FGM. She came to the fair dressed in her mayoral robes and spoke with both children and families. Naima has helped the school raise charity funds in the past and I am sure will continue to support the school whenever possible within her busy schedule.
We would like to say a huge thank you to her for visiting the school today. Thank you to all staff and parents who donated items and dedicated their time to run this fun event for families. The money raised by the PTA is used to provide activities for the children in school.
Particular thanks to Alex who organises this event each year and persuades people to donate prizes for the school raffle- not sure how she keeps doing it!
Thank you also to parents who donated bikes for refurbishing and selling in the bike market too.
