At Rotherhithe Primary, pupils learn about different religions and worldviews and the diversity that exists within them. RE lessons are planned using Kapow Primary and are designed to create open-minded and reflective learners. Pupils study a variety of religions and worldviews such as Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Judaism, Buddhism and Humanism to help them understand the diverse beliefs and perspectives found within our community. We celebrate diversity and embrace British values, which we impart to our pupils through mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs.
Religious Education encourages pupils to learn from different religions, beliefs, values and traditions while exploring their own beliefs. Pupils learn to explain their ideas on how worldviews influence people and how they respond to life’s ‘big questions’. They have opportunities to share the experiences and ideas of others without making judgements. Through the teaching of Religious Education, we also give our children the opportunity to visit different places of worship and invite leaders of different faiths to visit our school during assembly times.
