World Oceans Day on the 8th of June was focused on Life and Livelihoods. In Assembly this week, children learned about how important the oceans are for human life. They heard how it helps provide livelihoods for many people around the world. Also, how the oceans create our weather systems and manage distribution of heat.
They learned how as humans, we are damaging our oceans due to pollution and in particular, plastic pollution. We considered alternative choices that could be made instead of using one-off plastics. They seemed extremely interested and were talking about it later when they saw me around the school.
