This week the children took part in a workshop regarding air pollution. In this workshop they looked at how congestion on our streets leads to idling. Idling is one of the largest producers of air pollution in suburban areas. It is a particularly large issue around schools and residential communities.
Idling reduces your vehicle’s fuel economy, costs you money, and creates pollution. Idling for more than 10 seconds uses more fuel and produces more emissions that contribute to smog and climate change than stopping and restarting your engine does.
The children created some fantastic posters, which can be seen in the gallery below. They also took to the streets and spoke to some motorists about considering switching their engine off when sitting in traffic or even considering using public transport or other means of travel for short journeys around London.
