SMSC, PSHE & RSHE at RPS
Welcome to our SMSC, PSHE & RSHE page at Rotherhithe Primary school. At our school, we recognise that our wellbeing sets the foundation of learning, positive relationships and resilience. This value underpins the culture within our school and we aspire to carry our skills further into the community.
Pupils engage in weekly lessons lead by the PSHE curriculum which offers opportunities to explore the subject thoroughly. However, throughout school life at RPS, we promote resilience, emotional regulation, and life skills through use of some of the frameworks listed below. Please watch the ‘How we learn’ video for a preview on some of these frameworks in action.
SMSC – Social, Moral, Spiritual and Cultural:
The overarching ethos of the school that encompasses personal development
PSHE – Personal Social Health Economic Education = the curriculum:
A curriculum through which children learn skills they need to have a healthy, safe and prosperous life beyond school.
RSHE – Relationship, Sex and Health Education:
A curriculum through which children explore the emotional, social and physical aspects of growing up. They learn about positive relationships, growth and changes, as well as physical and mental health.
