It’s a great day for getting active this Friday and Coach Dan and his team have been busy putting children through their paces with some fun activities. These include:
Bean Bag Target Throw:
In this challenge, the children will stand two to three metres from the target and take turns in throwing bean bag into the target area to accumulate a score. These scores range from 10 points through to 50 points. This activity is all about developing an understanding of pace (the speed of the throw) and accuracy (how much your throw was on target).
Bench Challenge:
In this challenge the children are asked to move across a series of benches as quickly and as safely as they can avoiding the dots that have been placed on the benches and of course staying on the bench throughout the length of the activity. The goal here is again accuracy in placing your feet in the right place without touching the dots, then speed in moving across the bench, and lastly but most importantly, balance.
Bouncing Targets:
In this activity, the children were given a time limit and a series of tennis balls and asked to see how many tennis balls they could get in a bucket placed a couple of metres away by bouncing the ball first midway between the bucket and their starting position taking the ball from the bounce hopefully into the awaiting bucket.
