I hope you will join me in warmly welcoming Anthony Williams who is teaching Pearl Class. Anthony also holds responsibility for computing in the curriculum.
It is with sadness we say goodbye to Shirley Walters (Safeguarding and Interventions Officer). Shirley has worked at Rotherhithe for many years now and has become a familiar face for children and parents. She is dedicated to ensuring that the welfare of children is always paramount and helped the school to achieve an outstanding grade for safeguarding and pupil welfare during our Ofsted inspection in 2014. We would like to thank her for all her hard work. We will miss her and wish her well in her new position as an Inclusion Manager in a college for young adults with additional needs. It will be Shirley’s last day on Thursday 17th January.
Although, she is still working within the River Hill Federation, we would also like to say goodbye and thank you to Constantina Markides (Learning Mentor). Constantina is moving to DKH, to take up the Safeguarding and Interventions Officer position at that school. This is an interim position and we are sure we will see Constantina in the future. Constantina has fantastic relationships with our children and has helped many children to overcome barriers that may impact on learning. Constantina’s last day at RPS will be Monday 14th January.
New roles and responsibilities
When people leave new opportunities become available for others and I am pleased to announce that Kofi Danquah has been appointed as the new Safeguarding and Interventions Officer to replace Shirley. We are currently interviewing for an interim Learning Mentor. We look forward to seeing Kofi rise to the challenges his new role will bring.
