Our careers and enterprise month started off with such excitement this week. The children met a transplant team, a CEO, and a town planner!
Our children “operated” on their teachers, they helped monitor their heart rate and stayed calm while the team worked together to clamp the “heart valve” and luckily save Leah and Sarah who were the patients. The transplant team stressed the importance of resilience during stressful situations and teamwork. They explained there are over 600 different types of jobs in a hospital and no job can work without the other. The team said they loved their time with our children. One of the surgeon’s tutors Cambridge medical students and he said they are nothing compared to our children. This came as no surprise to us!
Colin, the CEO of Tree Shepherd, thoroughly enjoyed the visit to our school. The children were so motivated around the concept of enterprise and environment. They really enjoyed the discussion about how enterprising you can be about recycling plastic bottles. One pupil told her parents that evening that she was really impressed with how much can be done with recycled plastic bottles and was so proud of her new knowledge.
Our children also had the opportunity to explore how you could have a career in town planning, some even designed their own town. They have such creative ideas. They were fantastic at articulating the community that they want to be in and what a community needs to be happy and thrive.
There is a lot more in store for our children, we have a speaker from British Land coming to speak this month. An entrepreneur who has been so successful he now supports others on their entrepreneur journey is also coming in to share his success story. He will also make himself available for you and to talk through any ideas you have. We have been fortunate to work with Thrive, they have been an amazing support and are running workshops for our children and also for the wider community, please see flyer below and do come along to events at Thrive.
This first week has ended with children dressing up in their future career. Thank you for your support with this. It is lovely to see the children explore possibilities and see that really opportunity is theirs for the taking! Thank you to the enterprise team for all your hard work in setting this up.
