To mark the 75th anniversary of the D Day landings in Normandy, year 6 children did a short presentation in assembly about this historic event. The D Day assault was the largest ‘amphibious’ battle (sea on to land) that has ever taken place in the world. It enabled the allies to secure the beaches along the French coastline and is considered to have been a monumental turning point in the war in favour of the allies.
However, many men lost their lives. We held a minute silence in assembly to remember them and their loved ones whose lives were dramatically changed on this day 75 years ago.
