Breakfast Club Menu
Dear families, we have been revising our menu for breakfast club to make it even more healthy. It is well known that there is a link between diet and academic progress. Research shows that children who eat a healthy diet have better concentration levels, can process information more easily and have a more stable mood.
We are currently one of Southwark’s champion healthy schools at Rotherhithe and actively promote healthy eating. This includes breakfast club, school lunches and snacks. Last year the year six children carried out a survey looking at the choices the children were making in breakfast club.
They found out that lots of children were:
- Eating too much sugar
- Only choosing white bread and croissants
- Rarely eating a balanced breakfast
The children led an assembly to tell the whole school about their findings. So in response we looked carefully at the menu. We tried very hard to still make it tasty and not lose all of the children’s favourites, such as pancakes on a Friday. We also swapped one food for a similar but healthier alternative, for example, white bread for brown bread.

Healthy snacks guide
It is well known that there is a link between diet and academic progress. Research shows that children who eat a healthy diet have better concentration levels, can process information more easily and have a more stable mood. We are currently one of Southwark’s champion healthy schools at Rotherhithe and actively promote healthy eating. This includes breakfast club , school lunches and snacks.
If your child attends an after school club they are encouraged to bring a snack to eat so that they have enough energy to participate in the club after a day at school. All snacks should be prepared in line with our school healthy eating policy in order to provide a healthy balanced meal. We would encourage parents to support this by following the guidelines below.
